After a lifetime of giving to the community, for many people leaving a bequest or gift in their Will to a charitable organisation is an important part of their legacy planning. As the community foundation for Greater Melbourne, we have been honoured by the generosity of people including Elzbieta Kobylanska, as well as Lawrence and Joan Cohn.

Elzbieta Kobylanska

Elzbieta Kobylanska established a charitable fund account with Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation because she wanted to create an enduring memory of her father, Senator Tadeusz Kobylanski. Elzbieta wanted to celebrate and honour her father’s lifetime commitment and compassion to his family and community.

In 2014 Elzbieta passed away leaving a gift in her Will to the Foundation. Elzbieta’s gift continues to support essential services that care for young and older people particularly young Indigenous people.

Lawrence & Joan Cohn

For 35 years, Lawrence and Joan Cohn gave generously to support the fundraising appeals of Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. In 2004, Lawrence established the Lawrence and Joan Cohn Fund in memory of Joan.

Lawrence and Joan gave freely of their time to community groups including their local church community and provided invaluable support for many years to the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Melbourne Musicians Society. Lawrence left a gift in his Will to the Foundation to continue his lifetime of caring for and giving to the community, this wonderful gift continues to support charities in Melbourne.
