The Board of Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation today announced the appointment of Peter Walton as its new Chief Executive.
Mr Walton succeeds Dr Catherine Brown OAM and will commence in the role in early April 2024.
The Acting Chair of Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation, Ms Janina Gawler, commented “We are delighted to have selected someone of Peter’s standing in the for-purpose sector. We know Peter will bring extensive knowledge in building on the Foundation's DNA as a brave and forward-looking public community foundation.
“Peter brings a wealth of experience and commitment to catalytic philanthropy, systems change and forming the innovative and strategic partnerships needed to make a difference to local people and places across Greater Melbourne.”
Peter is currently CEO of CARE Australia, one of Australia's leading global humanitarian organisations. Prior to this he was Director, International with Australian Red Cross, and CEO of Infoxchange, one of the Foundation's partners in its new For Purpose Impact Accelerator Hub.
Mr Walton said, “I am honoured and excited to be joining Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation, especially in this, its centenary year. The Foundation has a proud legacy as one of Australia's oldest and largest community foundations, yet one that continually evolves and adapts to remain truly innovative and relevant.
“I look forward to working with the Foundation's passionate staff, partners, the charitable sector and the community to build upon Dr Catherine Brown OAM's passionate leadership and the impact the team has had in helping Melbourne be resilient and inclusive for all.”
