A better life and future for women and families of Melbourne.
Promoting giving, raising awareness, investing in changes and empowering futures
MELBOURNE WOMEN'S FUND is a group of diverse women with a shared passion — we want to make a difference, we want to give back, and we want to create real change in issues that affect the quality of life for women and families in Melbourne. We welcome all women, you do not have to live in Melbourne to be a member.
Our members pool their annual donations through our Giving Circle (which is a Collective Giving Account of Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation). We seek to leverage the power of every dollar donated to create real and sustainable change by funding programs and services that address health and education issues in all their forms, facing women and families in our community. If we attract 50 members in our first year we will raise $50,000 in funds to make grants. Should we reach 100 members, we will have $100,000 to grant. Both amounts would make an appreciable impact on our grant recipients.
There is nothing more powerful than a community of women with a shared passion and purpose. We know we have the most impact by pooling our resources together with other women who share the same vision. Every grant made through our fund is many times more powerful than it would be if funded separately by individuals. We will be able to fund programs and services that otherwise may not have the chance to grow and develop.
Our members shape and impact our community for the better, for our generation and for generations to come – this is the challenge and the joy of giving while living.
Melbourne Women's Fund is a democratic group. Grant seekers are nominated and voted on by our members, with the assistance of our Advisory Board and the Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation. Simply put, one member = one vote. We make it easy and fun to make an impact, and there is no required involvement when you are a member, you can choose how active (or not) you want to be in our group.
