Through the support of the Collier Charitable Fund, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation has addressed many of the challenges including the impacts of COVID-19.

The relationship between Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation and Collier Charitable Fund is both historic and very special. The Foundation has been a beneficiary of the Collier Charitable Fund since its establishment in 1954.

Sisters Annette, Alice and Edith Collier were successful businesswomen and philanthropists and bequeathed £1.25 million from their estates to establish the Collier Charitable Fund which was activated upon Edith’s death.

The Collier sisters’ story is truly inspiring. The positive impact the Collier sisters’ philanthropy has had on Melbourne is immeasurable; thousands of charitable organisations have been supported by the Collier Charitable Fund.

In 2019, Collier Charitable Fund celebrated an important milestone, $102 million in grants made to charitable and not for profit organisations across Victoria since 1954.

Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer Dr Catherine Brown said, “We are delighted to honour the Collier sisters Alice, Edith and Annette for their enormous and wonderful contribution to the wellbeing of Melbourne. They have inspired Australian philanthropy, especially in Melbourne for many decades.

“We are privileged to be a beneficiary of the Collier bequest. Together we share 67 years of supporting the people of Melbourne especially in health, education and community development.”

Collier Charitable Fund’s Executive Officer Wendy Lewis OAM agrees that the two organisations have continuously worked well together to address the health and welfare needs of Melbourne.

“This was a significant milestone not only for the Collier Charitable Fund but also for the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation,” added Wendy.
