Each year since 2015 Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation has hosted The Swanson Society Dinner to honour and recognise our donors who have planned to leave a gift in their will to the Foundation. This year we welcomed 120 guests to a special 95th anniversary Swanson Society dinner at the Melbourne Town Hall.

The Foundation’s Deputy Chair, Dr Sandra Hacker AO, opened the evening by paying tribute to donors from throughout our history who have contributed enormously to the success of the Foundation and thanked current donors for their ongoing commitment and support. Throughout the evening, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation was celebrated as the centre for community philanthropy in Melbourne.

The Right Honourable Lord Mayor Sally Capp acknowledged the incredible contribution that the Foundation has made to Melbourne’s health and wellbeing. She also paid tribute to the vision of Sir John Swanson, who established the Foundation in 1923 as a perpetual source of funding for Melbourne’s public hospitals and charitable organisations.

He also highlighted some of the innovative projects being undertaken by universities and not-for-profit organisations across Melbourne and Victoria.
