Throughout 2018 Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation celebrated its 95th anniversary with a series of special events.
The final anniversary event, Inspiring Philanthropy Celebration, with guest speaker Carmel Guerra OAM, Chief Executive Officer at the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY), was celebrated at the Melbourne Town Hall.
Guests represented the not-for-profit and philanthropic sectors as well as the Foundation’s donors, supporters and grant partners.
Each year the Foundation invites a high profile speaker to deliver an oration to inspire and inform Melbourne’s community about exciting projects and programs undertaken by the philanthropic and not-for profit-sectors.
Carmel shared her engaging and heart-warming personal story about her journey from youth worker to founder and Chief Executive Officer of CMY.
Carmel encouraged Melbourne to be a welcoming and inclusive city for young people from newly arrived and migrant communities and encouraged guests to continue their support of the work undertaken by the Foundation in education and employment.
