Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation has released its 2024 Annual Report, outlining the collective impact of the Foundation’s strategic and donor advised grantmaking, governance and investments.

As Greater Melbourne continues to experience the ongoing housing crisis and increased costs of living, putting vulnerable people and communities under further pressure, the Foundation continues to work at the intersection of addressing critical issues, whilst addressing the future needs of Greater Melbourne.


 
The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Walton said, “As the charitable foundation for Greater Melbourne, we have the mandate and the platform to fundamentally make a difference to our community at a time when so many people are experiencing disadvantage. 
 
“We are working with communities to help them tackle immediate needs and the root causes of our society’s interconnected challenges. Our focus is on fairness, sustainability, social justice and equity.”

 

Important Highlights from the 2023 / 2024 financial year include:

  • 40 per cent of investments decarbonised with the aim to reach 100 per cent by 2030
  • Increased strategic grants from 138 to 167 in response to need
  • An increased focus on supporting First Nations led organisations with $1.26 million in grants
  • 67 per cent of grants are funded for the first time by the Foundation
  • 32 per cent of grants support community and climate resilience
  • Launch of WISE grants, a collaborative program with English Family Foundation, Macquarie, Minderoo Foundation, PFR, Vincent Fairfax Foundation and Westpac Foundation
  • Celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Frankston Community Fund and Brimbank Community Charitable Fund
  • Launch of the For Purpose Impact Accelerator Hub for the not-for-profit sector
