Impact100 Melbourne is part of the network of Impact100 giving circles across Australia, whose model is based on 100 donations of $1000 to make one large grant of $100,000 for maximum impact.
The members of Impact100 Melbourne are passionate about making Melbourne a great city for all residents.
"Impact100 Melbourne is not only about responding to community needs and making one extraordinary grant that has true impact but also provides educational opportunities for our members.”
- Impact100 Melbourne Co-founders Rikki Andrews and Vanessa Meachen
Each year, Impact100 Melbourne focuses on a social issue to direct its grants. This has previously included homelessness and supporting diversity in the Melbourne community.
Several events are hosted and based around this annual theme, enriching members with understanding about how their grant would bring about significant change.
The 2016 granting theme ' Melbourne: DIverse and Inclusive' resulted in a major grant being given to SisterWorks, as well as three smaller grants to THe National Council of Jewish Women of Australia (Victoria), Western Edge Youth Arts and OUter Urban Projects.
The Impact100 Melbourne theme for 2017 is Education with a focus on funding projects that:
- promote and support academic learning (may include coaching and mentoring programs, homework and breakfast clubs, promotion of STEM, literacy, numeracy, music, languages or provide educational opportunities for people in the out-of-home care or justice system)
- are not vocation based.
