We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst & Community Insights Manager who can add value to our Foundation’s work through the use of insights from data owned by the Foundation and external or commissioned sources in the grants and initiatives Impact Areas, the Marketing and Development program and business planning. This role is a three-year contract.

About the role: Reporting to our Chief Financial and Operations Officer you will be the information expert for our Foundation. You will be responsible for the coordination of data contributions to the Melbourne Vital Signs report, also producing the annual Impact Report by drawing from data held on our grants and initiatives. You will liaise with the Marketing & Development and Grants areas in relation to building a dynamic and relevant Knowledge Hub and the development of management and board reports. You will provide donor insights to the Chief Marketing and Development Officer in order to enhance the development programs of our Foundation.

 

You will assist the CEO, Chief Financial and Operations Officer and the Chief Marketing and Development Officer with identifying business improvement opportunities and provide information relevant to strategic business planning across our Foundation by identifying trends and insights, including donor products and grant & initiative impact evaluation.

 

You will ensure that data integrity and quality is maintained through the consistent application of processes and policies and through education of Foundation staff.

 

Desired Requirements, Skills and Experience

  • At least five years’ experience in business or reporting analysis, knowledge and project management, information architecture, information technology, information science or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with the principles of information and data management, including technology and methods such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, advanced Excel skills and familiarity with relevant visualisation software (i.e. Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Microstrategy).
  • In depth understanding of search engine analytics and search engine optimization and relevant technical competencies.
  • Knowledge of information retrieval, categorisation and organisational principles, especially with a view to annual reporting.
  • Ability to translate data analysis into insights and into information that can be shared with Foundation staff and stakeholders.
  • Experience in design and development of digital asset management and information management systems.
  • Strong general research capabilities and knowledge of project evaluation methods.
  • Experience collaborating with marketing teams and internal and external teams on projects.
  • Knowledge of the field of philanthropy and/or one or more fields in which the Foundation works (affordable housing, homelessness, education, employment, sustainability, climate change, and public health, ageing well and/or social cohesion) is preferred.
