Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation seeks new chief executive officer
June 30, 2011
The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation is seeking a new chief executive officer after receiving the resignation of Mr Andrew Chappell.
The Foundation’s chairperson Mr Robert Masters said, “After almost six years as the chief executive officer Andrew Chappell has decided it is now the right time for him to pursue new opportunities and will leave the Foundation at the end September.”
Under the direction and stewardship of Mr Chappell the Foundation has undergone a period of dramatic growth to become of one Australia’s largest community foundations and Melbourne’s best known philanthropic organisation with a corpus of almost $100 million. The Foundation now grants more than $7 million annually to over 450 charitable agencies in Melbourne and across Victoria.
Mr Chappell said it was not an easy decision to make. “It has been a great honour and privilege to lead the Foundation over the last few years and see it re-emerge as a prominent and leading philanthropic organisation. I have worked with a wonderful, dedicated team, and together we have achieved a great deal,” said Mr Chappell.
“I feel very positive about the future of this iconic organisation and will be exploring opportunities to assist the community in a similar way in the future.”
The growth and development of Foundation is a testament to Mr Chappell’s leadership said Mr Masters. “Andrew leaves with an impeccable record of achievement, and the Board of Management sincerely thanks him for his commitment and leadership.”
The position of chief executive officer will be advertised in The Age and Australian this weekend and further information can be obtained by contacting Ms Jo Fisher, at Jo Fisher Executive Search, on 9016 6000 or www.jofisher.com.au
