(Melbourne, Monday 26 September 2011) The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation announced today the appointment of Catherine Brown as the Foundation’s new chief executive officer.
Chairman Robert Masters said that Catherine’s legal background and extensive experience in the philanthropic sector would make a major contribution to the Foundation’s future direction.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Catherine Brown to the position of chief executive officer at the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation,” he said.
“As one of Melbourne’s leading philanthropic organisations, the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation is entering a new and exciting phase and we look forward to working with Catherine for the future success of the Foundation.
“Catherine’s background in law, not-for profit and community organisations, and in taxation, governance and regulatory matters associated with the sector will add to the strength of the Foundation as we seek to open a new chapter in its commitment to assisting Melbourne’s charitable agencies and not-for-profit organisations,” added Mr Masters.
Catherine has held senior executive positions with Multiple Sclerosis Society of Victoria, Wesley Mission Melbourne and is a former CEO of Brain Foundation Victoria (now BrainLink).
For the past 10 years Catherine has been director of Catherine Brown and Associates, providing strategic advice and guidance to foundations and not-for-profit organisations throughout Australia. Catherine published Great Foundations - a 360° guide to building resilient and effective not-for-profit organisations with ACER Press in October 2010 to help enhance the knowledge of Australian not-for- profit CEOs and Board directors.
Catherine has a Law Degree from the University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Catherine will commence her position of chief executive officer at the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation on Monday 10 October 2011.
