Defence Lake Attack Fun Run and Walk Charity Event
Sunday 29 August 2010
WHAT: After 28 years, the annual Defence Lake Attack Fun Run and Walk is a firm favourite on Melbourne’s fun run calendar with both a 10km run and 5km walk as part of this great community event.
In partnership with the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, the event is organised by the Department of Defence in Melbourne to raise money for Legacy, RedKite, Compassionate Friends and KidSafe.
As well as the 10km run and 5km walk, there are lots of free activities for all the family to enjoy including interactive military displays from the Defence Forces and State Emergency Services; live music by the Royal Australian Naval Band; and fun activities for children including a jumping castle, face painting and trampolines. There are race prizes for individuals, corporate teams and school groups.
Event ambassador, triple world aerobics champion and health and fitness expert, Sue Stanley will conduct two warm-up aerobics sessions to prepare the runners and walkers for the event.
There’s something for everyone to enjoy. After the race there will be aerial demonstrations by the RAAF's famous "Roulette" aircraft and fly-pasts by historic aircraft from the RAAF Museum.
Come along and enjoy a great morning of fun while raising money for charity.
