The Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation CEO Mr Andrew Chappell said, “The generosity of people responding to our Bushfire Appeal 2009 has been wonderful. It has enabled us to respond immediately to the needs of charities assisting the victims of the bushfires.
Since last Wednesday the Foundation has distributed $640,000 to both small and larger charitable organisations including the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
Our decision to provide immediate funding to the frontline agencies has been welcomed by the charities, the families and individuals who have suffered and are suffering, Mr Chappell said.
