The Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation has provided funding to enable the first radio station to be located in buishfire ravaged Marysville.
Bushfire ravaged Marysville will have its first ever radio station from this Sunday thanks to funding from the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.
The Governor of Victoria, David de Kretser, will officially open the new studio of Alexandra community radio station, UG-FM (Upper Goulburn FM), in Marysville’s new temporary village.
The new Marysville studio will commence broadcasting from 10am and will provide a much needed service to the bushfire affected community as it starts the process of rebuilding.
“Better radio communications will help the people of Marysville as they rebuild and heal as a community, “said Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation CEO, Andrew Chappell.
“The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation is pleased to fund the studio and we hope this service will prove to be an effective early warning mechanism for the region to ensure reports of any possible future bushfires are quickly broadcast,”
“We also acknowledge Regional Arts Victoria and Healesville Interchurch Community Care for their assistance in establishing this satellite studio,” Mr Chappell said.
To date the Foundation has donated a total of $773,597 to the Bushfire Appeal to assist a number of agencies.
Marysville’s UG-FM will hit the airwaves at the same time as the temporary village of more than 60 homes will be officially opened by the Premier John Brumby.
Remember a loved one and give to your community forever.
