Melbourne's Road Home

Homelessness is an issue that impacts the whole of society and only a society willing to partner together to address homelessness will succeed in alleviating and ultimately eliminating homelessness. The Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation’s ‘Melbourne’s Road Home’ initiative is an outward expression of this belief.

Our assistance provided to the service providers has primarily been, and will continue to be, through provision of grants to agencies that provide services. The Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation granting commitment to addressing homelessness is to the value of seven million dollars ($7,000,000) over the next three years.

In 2009 we will be announcing Signature Grants, up to the value of $1,000,000 each, to support key projects that will make both a positive impact on those struggling with homelessness and will assist the community as a whole to better understand the complexity of homelessness.

2009 will see us again host a Melbourne’s Road Home Forum, with the hope of “hearing their voices”, as an opportunity for the community to engage with individuals who have experienced homelessness in order to gain a better understanding of their circumstance.
