MESSAGE FROM THE LORD MAYOR OF MELBOURNE
I am delighted to welcome you to the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.
The Foundation is one of Melbourne’s longest serving philanthropic organisations, having been established by Lord Mayor of the day Sir John Swanson in 1923. Last year the Foundation celebrated its 85th anniversary of caring for Melbourne’s charities.
Each year the Foundation receives more than 500 applications for funding for charitable agencies providing care and support to people living in need and disadvantage. In 2009, the Foundation distributed $8.9 million to health and welfare agencies across Melbourne and Victoria.
I am impressed by the Foundation’s special focus on social issues affecting Melbourne such as homelessness, and coupled with its ability to raise money, the Foundation is contributing greatly to the health and welfare of Melbourne.
I have personally been involved with some of Melbourne’s larger charitable agencies and have seen first hand the positive impact of charitable projects funded by the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.
There are many ways in which you can support the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. Make a donation, establish a charitable trust, leave a bequest or attend one of our special fundraising events.
Everyone can make a difference.
Yours sincerely

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle
President, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation
